Coldplay’s ‘Ghost Stories’ and Oasis’ ‘Definitely Maybe’ reissue released today

Plus, new album releases from Kate Tempest, Conor Oberst and Thumpers

Coldplay and Oasis lead this week’s list of new album releases (May 19).

‘Ghost Stories’ is Coldplay’s sixth album and their first since frontman Chris Martin’s “conscious uncoupling” from wife, Gwyneth Paltrow. The album includes the singles ‘Magic’ and ‘A Sky Full Of Stars.’

Coldplay have worked with producer Paul Epworth for the first time as well as spending time in the studio with regular collaborators Jon Hopkins, Rik Simpson & Dan Green. Epworth produced much of Adele’s hugely successful album ’21’ and has also worked with Paul McCartney, Friendly Fires, Bruno Mars and Florence + The Machine.

Meanwhile, Oasis‘s classic 1994 debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’ is reissued today to mark its 20th anniversary. The release includes rare and unreleased recordings and is the first in the new Chasing The Sun series from Big Brother Recordings, with Oasis’s follow-up albums ‘What’s The Story (Morning Glory)?’ and ‘Be Here Now’ to also be reissued later this year.

The 20th anniversary edition of ‘Definitely Maybe’ is available as a standard CD and digital download with a three-disc Special Edition version including the rare recordings and demos, a 12-inch vinyl LP featuring all the bonus CD content as a free download, and a Deluxe Box Set which features the LP and the CDs.

Among the bonus content included in the reissue is a disc featuring the band’s stand-alone single ‘Whatever’, unheard acoustic versions of the tracks ‘Live Forever’ and ‘Shakermaker’ recorded in Paris, an early demo of ‘Half The World Away’ recorded in Noel Gallagher’s Tokyo hotel room, a demo of the extremely rare song ‘Strange Thing’ and a live recording of ‘Sad Song’ show at Manchester Academy.
