Nominees for 2014 Welsh Music Prize announced

Manic Street Preachers, Gruff Rhys and Joanna Gruesome among nominees for this year's prize

Manic Street Preachers and Gruff Rhys are among the nominees for this year’s Welsh Music Prize.

The annual award, now in its fourth year, celebrates the finest Welsh music of the year as well as music made by Welsh people around the world. Created by Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens in 2011, previous winners have included Gruff Rhys and Future Of The Left.

Joining Manic Street Preachers on the 2014 shortlist are acts such as Future Of The Left, Joanna Gruesome, Cate Le Bon, Euros Child and Gulp.

The albums nominated for this year’s Welsh Music Prize are as follows:
