Music world reacts to Istanbul attacks

Three explosions and gunfire at the city's Ataturk airport have killed nearly 50 people and injured many more

The music world has begun reacting to the news of a terrorist attack in Istanbul.

Earlier tonight (June 28), three explosions and gunfire were reported to have taken place at the city’s Ataturk airport.

At the time of writing (23:28, 28/6/16), nearly 50 people had been reported to have been killed in the attack, with 60 more people injured.

According to reports, the explosions took place in the international departures area of the airport. Three suicide bombers are said to have been killed in the blasts. No organisation has claimed responsibility for the attack at the time of writing.

“I’m sick and tired of reading about terrorist acts. It’s such a sad, sad, sad world we live in. Thinking about the people in Istanbul,” wrote Zara Larsson.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra, who performed in Istanbul tonight, tweeted: “Im ok. And I still love Istanbul”.

“thinking of you, istanbul. it scares me that news like this doesn’t completely shock the world any more. we can’t ‘get used to it’,” said Lauren Aquiliana.
