Midweek chart update: Royal Blood set for Number One with debut album

Brighton duo are in competition with Ariana Grande for this week's top spot

Royal Blood look set to reach Number One on the Official UK Albums Chart this week with their self-titled debut.

The band’s album was released on Monday (August 25) and is currently ahead of Ariana Grande’s ‘My Everything’ at today’s midweek stage. The final chart placings will be revealed on BBC Radio 1 on Sunday (August 31).

Elsewhere in the Official Albums Chart, Swedish metal band Opeth have the next highest new entry with their new album ‘Pale Communion’ entering at Number Seven, while US country star Brad Paisley is new in at Number 20. Other new entries are due from Dry The River (21), Basement Jaxx (29), Frnkiero & The Cellabration (34) and Amy Lee (39).

Meanwhile, the Number One spot on the Official Singles Chart could go to French-Israeli duo Lilly Wood, whose 2010 single ‘Prayer In C’ is new at Number Three following a remix by Robin Sculz. The German DJ and producer previously reached Number One this year when he remixed Mr Probz single, ‘Waves’.

Further new entries on this week’s Official Singles Chart at the midweek stage come from Maroon 5 (2), Lethal Bizzle, Ariana Grande (23) and MO (33).
