Films scored by Beastie Boys and Death Cab For Cutie members to premiere at Sundance

Ad-Rock and Ben Gibbard's work can be heard in new films at US film festival

Beastie Boys‘ Ad-Rock and Ben Gibbard of Death Cab For Cutie have both scored films set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival later this month.

The festival begins in Utah on January 16 and will see the premiere of Laggies, a dark comedy featuring Keira Knightley and Chloe Moretz with music from Gibbard. It is the frontman’s first project since the reunion of his other band The Postal Service in 2013. Gibbard previously scored Nirvana film Kurt Cobain: About a Son in 2006.

Meanwhile, Billboard also reports that Beastie Boys’ Adam Horovitz, aka Ad-Rock, has also provided the score for No-No: A Dockumentary, a baseball film telling the story of Pittsburgh player Dock Ellis, who is believed to have thrown a perfect game in 1970 while on acid.

Last year, film director Spike Jonze revealed that he wrote a film script with Beastie Boys, inspired by the video ‘Sabotage’.
