Singer denied charges in court
Tulisa Contostavlos has been found guilty of assaulting a celebrity blogger at V Festival 2013.
The singer, who was formerly a member of pop group N-Dubz, denied attacking Savvas Morgan at the Chelmsford leg of the festival in 2013.
Sky News reports that the former X Factor judge was found guilty of hitting Savvas Morgan during an altercation at the event last August. The verdict arrived earlier today (July 25) at Stratford Magistrates’ Court in London. Contostavlos’ assistant Gareth Varey, was cleared of using threatening behaviour during the incident. Tulisa was fined £200.
The trial began on May 19 but Judge Angus Hamilton decided to postpone proceedings on May 23 to allow more witnesses to be called.
A separate trial involving the singer facing drugs charges recently collapsed in court after Judge Alistair McCreath stated that he believed prosecution witness Mazher Mahmood had lied to the court at a pre-trial hearing. The pop star was accused of brokering a £800 cocaine deal and walked free, as did her co-defendant Michael Coombs, 36, who had previously pleaded guilty to supplying cocaine.
