Mastodon and Ed Sheeran lead new album releases (June 23)

Plus; new albums from A Sunny Day In Glasgow, How To Dress Well, Martyn and Riff Raff

Ed Sheeran and Mastodon lead this week’s list of new album releases (June 23).

Mastodon release their sixth studio album, ‘Once More ‘Round The Sun’.

The album follows 2011’s ‘The Hunter’ and features the single ‘High Road’, which the band revealed earlier this month. ‘Once More ‘Round The Sun’ was recorded in Tennessee, with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Deftones, Alice in Chains) at the helm.

Speaking about their sixth album, Brann Dailor of the band said: “Quite literally, ‘Once More ‘Round the Sun’ means a year-in-the-life. Lyrically, we were discussing things that happened to us recently, whereas in the past we looked further back for inspiration. It’s about 365 days in this band. It was a tough and strange journey. We happened to be in the middle of completing a full rotation musically as everything else was going on.”

Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran releases his new album ‘x’, the follow up to 2011’s hugely successful ‘+’. The album features the Number One single ‘Sing’ and has seen Sheeran work with both Pharrell Williams and Rick Rubin.

Elsewhere, there are new albums from A Sunny Day In Glasgow, How To Dress Well, Martyn and Riff Raff.
