Haim and David Bowie react to NME Awards 2014 with Austin, Texas nominations

Bands and artists react to news of their nominations ahead of February ceremony

David Bowie and Haim have reacted to being nominated for the NME Awards 2014 with Austin, Texas.

As revealed earlier today (January 15), Arctic Monkeys lead the charge with a total of eight nominations split between the band and singer Alex Turner, including Best Album, Best Live Band and Best British Band.

Along with Arctic Monkeys, Haim and David Bowie are both up for multiple awards. Tweeting about their nominations, including nods in the categories of Best International Band, Best Song and Best Video, Haim wrote: “WE ARE NOMINATED FOR 6 NME AWARDS! THANK YOU FOR VOTING, WE ARE READY TO RAGE!”

Meanwhile, a tweet from David Bowie’s Twitter account reads: “For the finger points at me…” in reference to the design of the NME Award and his 1995 song ‘I Have Not Been To Oxford Town’. Bowie is up for Best Solo Artist against Lorde, Kanye West, Jake Bugg, Kanye West and Lily Allen.
