Three people suffer ‘serious side-effects’ after taking ‘blue tablet’ at V Festival

Trio of attendees at Staffordshire festival required medical attention

Three people required medical attention at V Festival yesterday (August 16) after taking a pill they believed was Ecstasy.

Staffordshire police confirmed that all three people at the Staffordshire leg of the two-day event, which took place in Weston Park and saw The Killers headline, suffered “serious side-effects” having taken a pill named “Blue Ghost.” Officials confirmed a small batch of the drug had been seized on site.

A statement issued by ITV News by Staffordshire Police said: “Emergency teams have treated people this evening who took a blue tablet they believed to be ecstasy at V Festival in Weston Park. All had serious side-effects after taking the tablets and needed urgent medical treatment.”

Meanwhile, a festival spokesman said: “We take these reports seriously and will do everything in our power to support the police in their investigations to ensure the festival continues to be a safe environment for everyone.”

None of the three involved required medical attention.

V Festival continues today (August 17) with Justin Timberlake, Ed Sheeran and Kaiser Chiefs set to perform on the second day in Staffordshire.
