Former 'The Voice' contestant was murdered by an obsessed fan last Friday (June 10)
Christina Grimmie will be laid to rest later this week.
A viewing will take place on Friday (June 17) at Fellowship Alliance Chapel in Medford, near to where the singer grew up before she moved to Los Angeles in 2012. A memorial service will be held at the chapel later that evening, Billboard reports.
Former The Voice contestant Grimmie was murdered by an obsessed fan on Friday (June 10) following a show at Orlando club Plaza Live. She was supporting pop trio Before You Exit at the time.
Grimmie was managed by Brian Teefy, the stepfather of Selena Gomez, who discovered the singer in 2011. On Saturday, Gomez broke down in tears on stage as she paid tribute to the singer. At a concert in Miami, Gomez said: “One thing about Christina and her family is that she holds her faith so closely to her. And I think it’s not about a religion and it’s not about… good deeds. It’s just that she had faith, and I don’t really understand how this really happened.”
Justin Bieber, Fifth Harmony and Meghan Trainor also paid tribute to Grimmie during shows at the weekend. Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine, who was Grimmie’s mentor on The Voice, has offered to pay the funeral expenses.
Grimmie, who was 22, was shot dead by Kevin Loibl during a meet-and-greet with fans after her performance. Loibl subsequently shot himself dead.
