Pixies frontman Black Francis to appear on Wes Anderson tribute album

'I Saved Latin!' will see artists covering songs taken from Anderson movie soundtracks

Black Francis and Juliana Hatfield are among the artists who will contribute cover versions to a new Wes Anderson tribute album set for release next year.

‘I Saved Latin!’ is a two-CD collection of songs taken from director Anderson’s films, including tracks by bands such as The Rolling Stones, John Lennon, David Bowie and The Velvet Underground. Artists contributing covers include Pixies frontman Francis as well as Joy Zipper, Mike Watt, Freelance Whales and Telekinesis.

All of the songs included on the album are taken from the soundtracks to Anderson’s films: The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, The Darjeeling Limited, Fantastic Mr Fox and Bottle Rocket.
