Arcade Fire, Kings Of Leon back new ticket initiative

‘Global Citizen Tickets’ swaps community work for tickets

Arcade Fire, Kings Of Leon and Katy Perry have backed a ticket initiative launching in Britain which asks fans to do community and charity work in exchange for tickets.

‘Global Citizen Tickets’ also has the backing of The National, Neil Young, Pearl Jam, The Specials, John Newman and Chvrches.

Launched in the US in 2012, it asks fans to take part in a series of initiatives suggested by ‘Global Citizen Tickets’. In return, fans build up points which they can exchange for tickets.

The first British initiative asks people to email Chancellor George Osborne ahead of the Budget to increase Britain’s aid overseas.

John Newman said: “Global Citizen is a great initiative and I’m happy that I can help to contribute.”

Foo Fighters and The Black Keys are among those who have played exclusive concerts for Global Citizen in the US.
