The smartphone giant's Milk Music service is available on its Galaxy phones

Samsung has launched a new music streaming service.

The smartphone giant’s Milk Music service includes over 13 million songs and 200 radio stations, but is currently only available on its Galaxy range of phones in the US, the BBC reports. However, the firm said it is still confident that it will attract a significant number of users.

“We feel that while the music space is very competitive there is room for improvement,” said Daren Tsui, vice president of music at Samsung Media Solutions.

The service is free to download and currently will have no adverts for a limited period of time.

The South Korean firm previously ventured into streaming with an app called Music Hub for the Galaxy S3, but it recently shut down.

Last summer the company spent a reported $20 million (£12 million) to release Jay-Z’s latest album ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ via an app available exclusively on Galaxy phones and tablets.
