The Family Rain have announced a series UK tour dates for this October.
The sibling trio, consisting of brothers Will, Ollie and Tim Walter, will play 13 gigs between October 21 and November 3 including a homecoming gig at Komedia in Bath on October 31. Starting in Glasgow on October 21, the tour will visit Northumbria, Nottingham, Sheffield, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Birmingham, London, Bath, Oxford and Southampton before ending on November 3 in Brighton.
The Family Rain, who release the ‘Pushing It’ EP later this month, are currently recording their debut album and apparently recruited some unlikely guest vocalists during a recent night out in Paris. “Being the eternal Brit abroad that he is, Tim dragged us all along to a place which I could politely describe as a poor man’s version of the Moulin Rouge,” vocalist Will Walter recalled, speaking to NME.
“It was all very nice and respectable but then Ollie had to get backstage, didn’t he, so off we all went and next thing you know the aftershow’s kicking off, we’re all very drunk, and Tim has started promising these girls the world, as he does. For some reason, not entirely clear to Ollie and I, he thought it would be a fucking great idea to have a chorus of French women dressed in feathers who can’t sing, singing the chorus for a song we’d just recorded for the album.”
Continuing with his anecdote, Will Water recalled: “I don’t remember what time it was but they’d all trundled back to our shitty hotel and Tim had his laptop out and was trying to do his best impression of a professional musician recording this big old rousing chorus. I mean, it sounds like what you might expect a room full of wasted burlesque dancers in a hotel room the size of a large toilet to sound like, so I think there’s a slim chance it might politely disappear in the mixing process but you never know. It looked better than it sounded!”
