150 new bands and artists added to bill for Brighton festival in May
Both bands will play live at a special show at The Dome in Brighton on Friday, May 9. They will be joined by Adult Jazz on the night in a show co-hosted by charity War Child.
Also joining the bill for multi-venue festival, which takes place at 35 venues in Brighton between May 8-10, will be Mercury Prize nominee Jon Hopkins and The Strokes’ guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. They are among a huge list of exciting new additions which also includes East India Youth, Ratking, George Ezra, Hozier, Dry The River, Joel Compass, Augustines, MNEK, Jimi Goodwin and Kiesza.
Other acts set to appear in Brighton this May include Telegram, The Bohicas, Phantogram, Girl Band, Gorgon City, Blessa, All We Are, Big Ups, Eyedress, Jamie Isaac, Lizzo and The Neighbourhood.
As previously announced, Kelis will play Brighton Dome on May 10 in support of her sixth album ‘Food’, which is scheduled for release in April. Other names who appeared on the first line-up announcement in January included Jungle, Chlöe Howl, Royal Blood, Carli XCX, Courtney Barnett, Circa Waves and Fat White Family.
Festival Director Kat Morris said: “This will be our 9th festival, and it really feels like the event has become stronger year on year. The Great Escape prides itself on showcasing the very best upcoming talent and we aim to produce a line-up which shows a true cross section of emerging artists, locally and internationally, and offer hundreds of incredible gigs, accessible to festivalgoers with just one wristband. We’re really excited by how this year’s line-up is shaping up.”
