Ricky Gervais to play ‘very cheap, low key’ gigs as David Brent in October

Comedian will bring his 'Office' character to life during a pair of London gigs next month

Ricky Gervais has revealed he will perform live as his The Office character David Brent next month (October).

The actor and comedian will play live as part of Foregone Conclusion, Brent’s fictional band from the hit comedy series, in London later in the year. The gig announcement follows news that that a number of major record labels have offered Gervais the chance to record an album as Brent.

Gervais originally played Brent for two series of The Office and a two-part Christmas special. He recently brought the character back for a series of YouTube-based guitar tutorials and a Comic Relief sketch, having already revived him in 2011 for a cameo in the US version of his hit show.

David Brent is known for his love of playing the acoustic guitar, but not his musical talent, and his signature song ‘Free Love Freeway’ has become something of an anti-classic.
