Metric, Carly Rae Jepson and Deadmau5 also scoop prizes
Mumford & Sons, Leonard Cohen, Grimes and The Weeknd all picked up gongs at the Canadian JUNO Awards last night (April 21).
The ceremony, which is the Canadian equivalent of the Grammys left Leonard Cohen facing a raft of abuse from Justin Bieber fans on social media after the legendary singer pipped the popstar to Artist of the Year – scroll down to see some reactions on Twitter. Cohen also picked up Songwriter of the Year.
Carly Rae Jepson was the biggest winner of the night, picking up three gongs for Pop Album of the Year, Album of the Year and Singleof the Year for ‘Call Me Maybe’. Meanwhile The Weeknd won both Breakthrough Artist of the Year and R&B/Soul Recording of the Year. Grimes claimed Electronic Album of the Year, and Metric won Alternative Album of the Year. Mumford & Sons were awarded International Album of the Year.
Although Bieber couldn’t attend the ceremony, he did scoop the JUNO Fan Choice Awards for the third year in a row.
