"Finland has perhaps the most heavy metal bands in the world"
It seems Barack Obama is a fan of Nordic music, after praising their music scenes in a recent state dinner.
Speaking to to leaders from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, he praised the strengths and exports of each nation. During a speech about the virtues of Finland, President Obama commented on the country’s love of black metal and in fact, his own.
“I do want to point out, that Finland has perhaps the most heavy metal bands in the world, per capita, and also ranks high on good governance,” he said. “I don’t know that there’s any correlation there.”
President Obama also praised Swedish exports ABBA, Avicii and Spotify. Back in March, Barack Obama hailed Pitbull during a speech he gave in Cuba.
The US President praised the rapper along with Gloria Estefan and Celia Cruz saying Cubans and Americans share the same love for their music.
In the speech he said: “So even as our governments became adversaries, our people continued to share these common passions, particularly as so many Cubans came to America. In Miami or Havana, you can find places to dance the Cha-Cha-Cha or the Salsa and eat ropa vieja.
