Bestival, Festival No. 6, Jake Bugg, Django Django win at UK Festival Awards

Download, Green Man and Latitude also scooped prizes at the ceremony in London

Bestival was named Best Major Festival at the UK Festival Awards earlier this evening (December 3).

The ninth annual ceremony took place at London’s Roundhouse and also saw newcomer Festival No 6 win the award for Best New Festival and New Order score the gong for Headline Performance of the Year thanks to their turn at the new event in Portmeirion, Wales.

Jake Bugg was named Best Breakthrough Act and Django Django’s song ‘Default’ received the prize for Anthem of the Summer.


Download Festival – which this year saw sets from Black Sabbath, Biffy Clyro and Metallica – triumphed in the Best Line-Up category, whilst Latitude was named Best Family Festival and Camden Crawl scooped the gong for Best Metropolitan Festival.

Elsewhere, Bloodstock Open Air Festival was named Best Medium Festival, Best Small Festival was the Y Not Festival and Best Overseas Festival was Benicassim in Spain.

Live From Jodrell Bank, which was headed up by Elbow, was given the prize for the Extra-Festival Activity Award and Green Man won in the The Grass Roots Festival Award category.
