This year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals will have a new rock stage in 2014 which will be named by fans.
Formerly known as The Concrete Jungle and The Lock Up, the stage will be curated by Radio 1 Rock Show host Daniel P. Carter with US band Of Mice & Men announced as the first headliner for 2014. From today (January 24) until midnight on January 28, fans can suggest their names for the stage via the Reading & Leeds websites.
A shortlist of suggestions will be selected in collaboration with Carter on January 29, at which point fans will be able to select a winner through the websites. The chosen name will be announced on January 31. Fans who get their stage names shortlisted will receive an upgrade for them and a friend from standard to guest tickets. If their idea goes on to win the public vote then the ticket holder and a friend will also get side of stage access to the stage for the weekend.
Speaking about the new stage, Carter comments: “To be curating a stage at Reading & Leeds is so awesome. As someone that was born in Reading, and have been going to the festival since I was a kid, I thought playing the festival was a good as it could get. Turns out I was wrong! I’m really looking forward to putting together a bill of bands that I think are ace and are going to make for a heaving packed tent on each day. We started with Of Mice & Men and went from there. Stoked!”
It was previously revealed that Blink-182 will headline Reading & Leeds 2014 with Disclosure, Metronomy and Jake Bugg also on the bill. Blink-182 will headline the Main Stage for the first time at the festival since they headlined in 2010.
