James Arthur reclaims UK Number One single with ‘Impossible’

Emeli Sande ends 2012 at top of Official UK Album Chart

X Factor winner James Arthur has returned to the top of the Official UK Singles Chart.

The singer missed out on the Christmas Number One last weekend (December 23) to The Justice Collective’s Hillsborough charity single, but has reclaimed the Number One this weekend (December 30) with his debut single ‘Impossible’.

The track has now sold a staggering 897,000 copies and is already the fourth best-selling debut from an X Factor winner behind only Alexandra Burke, Shayne Ward and Matt Cardle, according to the Official Charts Compay.

Britney Spears and Will.i.am’s collaboration, ‘Scream And Shout’, climbs one place to Number Two, Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ is at Number Three, Olly Murs is at Number Four with ‘Troublemaker’ and last week’s Christmas Number One, ‘He Ain’t Heavy, ‘He’s My Brother’ by The Justice Collective’, is at Number Five.

Meanwhile, in the Official UK Album Chart, Emeli Sande ends her hugely successful year, which included performances at the London Olympics opening and closing ceremonies, on a high as her album, ‘Our Version Of Events’, is Number One.

The Scottish singer’s debut record is the biggest-selling album of the year, with sales of more than 1.2million, according to data provided by the Official Charts Company.

Olly Murs is at Number Two with ‘Right Place Right Time’, Rihanna‘s ‘Unapologetic’ is at Number Three and Michael Buble’s ‘Christmas’ album is at Number Four. Bruno Mars’ ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ completes this week’s Top 5.
