Aspiring rapper Ervin McKinness dies in car crash after tweeting that he was drink driving

Rapper also references Drake lyrics moments before his death

An aspiring rapper and four others have been killed in a car crash after he tweeted that he was drink driving behind the wheel at 120mph.

Ervin McKinness, 21, posted that he was driving drunk minutes before dying in a single car crash that killed the rapper and four others on September 2, reports the Huffington Post.

He wrote on his account: “Drunk af going 120 drifting corners #FuckIt YOLO.” Another tweet posted by McKinness talked about drinking and driving, adding: “Driving tweeting sipping the cup fuck yolo I’m turning it up.”

“YOLO” is an acronym for “you only live once”, a phrase made popular by Drake, who used it in his song ‘The Motto.’

McKinness died in Ontario at Creekside Drive and Haven Avenue when the 2005 Nissan Sentra he was reportedly driving went through a red light, lost control and slammed into a wall in the early hours. Marquell Bogan, 23, and Dylan George, 20, both from Ontario, Jonathan Watson, 21, of San Bernardino and JaJuan Bennett, 23, from Rancho Cucamonga were also killed in the crash.

Despite McKinness’ tweets, confusion surrounds whether he was actually driving the vehicle. Police reported that Watson may have actually been driving and not the rapper. Since the crash, McKinness’ sister also defended her brother as having been a passenger and not the driver that night.

McKinness, who went by the names Jew’elz and Inkyy, had signed a record deal and an official video for his song ‘Dreams’ was published on his YouTube channel, InkyyTV, back in April.
