Police stopped the tour bus because of an illegal taillight and noticed drug use
2 Chainz was arrested in Oklahoma City yesterday morning (August 22) after refusing to get off a tour bus for nearly nine hours.
The rapper – real name Tauheed Epps – was one of 11 people arrested for obstructing a police officer, the Associated Press reports. 2 Chainz had been performing with Lil Wayne and TI in Oklahoma City on Wednesday evening (August 21) and police stopped his tour bus as it approached a local motorway at around midnight because of an illegal taillight and noticed drug use.
The driver was arrested immediately, but according to Sergeant Jennifer Wardlow, the other passengers prevented police officers from entering the bus by closing and locking the interior door. Officers then towed the bus to a nearby police training centre, and after investigators obtained a warrant the 11 passengers finally vacated the bus at around 9am on Thursday morning. They have since been booked into Oklahoma County Jail.
Drugs were found on the bus, Wardlow confirmed, but officers don’t know which of the passengers they belonged to. Further charges could follow, she said. 2 Chainz has already been arrested for marijuana possession twice this year: first in Maryland in February, and then again in LA in June.
Meanwhile, 2 Chainz is set to release his second studio album ‘BOATS II: Me Time’ on September 10. His single from the Fast & Furious 6 soundtrack, ‘We Own It (Fast And Furious)’, a collaboration with Wiz Khalifa, reached Number Six on the UK’s Official Singles Chart in June.
