NME Music Photography Awards with Nikon exhibition taking place in London next month

Event will showcase best in music photography at theprintspace venue between January 6-11

This year’s best music photography is to be showcased at an NME-run event next month.

The NME Music Photography Awards with Nikon exhibition will take place at London’s theprintspace venue on January 6-11. The six-day run will be preceded by a launch event on January 5, which is taking place between 7.30pm-9pm.

Images from categories including Live, Portrait, Reportage, Festivals, and Under-18s will be showcased at the event, as well as winning work by professional photographers in the Photographer Of The Year and Outstanding Contribution categories.

Overall winner Layla Smethurst’s portrait of Matthew Whitehouse from The Heartbreaks, which you can see above, will also be on display.

Speaking about Layla’s winning picture, NME Picture Director Marian Paterson, who judged the entries, said:

The standard of photography was incredibly high this year. The judges unanimously decided this shot was the stand-out photograph of the competition. Layla is definitely a new talent to watch.
