Campaign to get Frank Sidebottom to Number One begins

The double A-side 'Guess Who's Been On Match Of The Day?' and 'The Robbins Aren't Bobbins' is available on iTunes

A fan-led campaign to get the late Frank Sidebottom to Number One has begun.

A Facebook group was launched after Sidebottom’s creator Chris Sievey died on June 21.

Organisers have chosen ‘Guess Who’s Been On Match Of The Day?’ and ‘The Robbins Aren’t Bobbins’ as a double A-side, which can be downloaded via iTunes.

To be eligible for this week’s chart, downloads must be made by 1:30pm (BST) on Saturday (July 10).

Meanwhile, a celebration of Frank Sidebottom‘s life is taking place tomorrow (June 8) at Castlefield Arena in Manchester, which will feature videos, special guests and a performance from Badly Drawn Boy. Entry is free – see RadioTimperley.com for more information.

As previously reported, a campaign to pay for Sievey’s funeral, after he died with few assets, raised £21,000.

The funeral took place on July 2, with the leftover money possibly going to erect a statue of Frank Sidebottom in his hometown of Timperley.
