Friends Of The Earth launch ‘donate as you download’ scheme

Green charity partners up with Fairsharemusic.com

Friends Of The Earth have launched a new partnership with ethical music download site Fairsharemusic.com.

The hook-up allows music fans to donate to Friends Of The Earth when they buy downloadable tracks from Fairsharemusic.com at no extra cost to them. The site – which has an 8.5 million-strong catalogue – will donate half the profits from every track downloaded to the charity. Download song prices start from 79p.

Friends Of The Earth‘s Executive Director Andy Atkins told NME how important the scheme is to the charity. “This is a fantastic way to download great music and support some really important campaigns for a cleaner, greener world at the same time,” he said.

He added: “Fairsharemusic.com is an easy way to give money – and the beauty is that it costs the same as downloading tunes from other sites. Friends Of The Earth has had great success working with musicians in the past – we hope that our new Fairsharemusic.com site will encourage lovers of good music to back our campaigns by donating as they download.”
