Amazon Cloud Player unveiled

Apple and Google are thought to be developing similar systems

Amazon has unveiled its new online music service, Amazon Cloud Player, in the US.

The service allows users to upload their music collection to the company’s servers then access it from devices including Blackberry, Palm and Android devices – but not Apple products.

5Gb of storage space is given per user – which amounts to around 1,200 songs.

Amazon‘s vice president of movies and music Bill Carr said: “Our customers have told us they don’t want to download music to their work computers or phones because they find it hard to move music around to different devices.”

It’s rumoured that Apple and Google are developing similar systems.
