Reading And Leeds Festivals headliner clues revealed

Organiser Melvin Benn says bill-toppers won't headline elsewhere

Reading And Leeds Festivals organiser Melvin Benn has given clues as to who may be headlining the events this year – by revealing a bunch of acts who definitely won’t be topping the bill.

As well as describing his bookings as “staggeringly good”, he told BBC Newsbeat that the three headliners for the August festivals will not be headlining UK festivals elsewhere this summer.

This would rule out Foo Fighters, Kasabian, Kings Of Leon, System Of A Down, Linkin Park, Biffy Clyro, Slipknot, Blink-182 (who headlined the events last summer) and Metallica, who are all confirmed to headline elsewhere.

Arctic Monkeys are rumoured to be headlining V Festival this summer, which would rule them out too, while it is strongly rumoured that U2 and Coldplay will play headline slots at Glastonbury.

Tickets for the Reading And Leeds Festivals, which take place on August 26-28, are set to go on general sale some time in March. Last year Guns N’ Roses and Arcade Fire played headline slots as well as Blink-182.
