The Nolans reforming for UK tour

Singing sisters reuniting for autumn gigs

Family band The Nolans have reformed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their 1979 hit ‘I’m In The Mood For Dancing’.

Only four members of the original group of six sisters will be taking part in the tour: Bernie, Linda, Maureen and Coleen, who is currently a panellist on ITV show ‘Loose Women’.

Coleen has said she expects the shows to attract “fans from the first time around who are now middle-aged women like us. Hopefully our old male fans will want to check us out too!”

She added that she hopes the shows won’t just appeal to old fans, because the band will be performing cover versions of girl band songs “right up to really modern stuff”.

The 17-date ‘I’m In The Mood Again Tour – The Ultimate Girls Night Out’ begins at Nottingham Royal Concert Hall on October 11.

It’s been 25 years since the band’s last tour. In an interview with The Mirror Bernie admitted that in their heyday they weren’t as “squeaky-clean” as everyone thought. “I was smoking 40 fags a day and I drank a lot of vodka every night after the show,” she daid.

The Nolans sold 25 million albums globally and supported Frank Sinatra on the European dates of his world tour in 1975.
