BBC to launch new music show ‘Sound’

Does Top of The Pops have a successor?

The BBC have announced that they will launch a new weekly music TV show next month – ‘Sound’ – which promises to showcase new, up and coming bands.

The news comes after a spate of music TV shows, such as Top Of The Pops and Channel Four’s Popworld, were decommissioned.

The show will be presented by Radio One DJ Annie Mac and the BBC’s new signing Nick Grimshaw. The BBC are yet to announce which bands will appear on the show, which launches on the afternoon of October 20.

However, they have revealed that ‘Sound’ will mix live performances and interviews and cover a wide variety of genres.

“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to showcase new and upcoming bands on TV, it’s truly exciting for me,” said Mac. “It’s so important that music gets this kind of TV exposure.”
