Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez yesterday (March 26) gave the single, which is released on April 6, his seal of approval, reports Goal.com.

“I think it’s important to show support for the fans and the families,” Benitez said.

Hillsborough diaster occurred on April 15, 1989 at Sheffield Wednesday‘s ground, during an FA Cup semi-final match between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest.

In the incident, 96 Liverpool fans lost their lives due to a crowd crush at the match.

Speaking of the single, Hooton said he wants the track to be seen as a tribute.

“A lot of people have volunteered to get involved,” he said. “It is a reworking of a Kop classic and I hope it raises awareness of the Hillsborough disaster and is a fitting tribute to the 96 and the survivors.”
