Miley Cyrus stalker appears in court

Mark McLeod’s lawyer said he’s been struggling with grief

A 53-year-old man who was recently arrested for the second time in Georgia for stalking 16-year-old Disney singer-actress Miley Cyrus has appeared in court.

Mark McLeod was charged with attempting to stalk Cyrus on August 5 after being spotted on the set of her new movie ‘The Last Song’ on Tybee Island, near Savannah Georgia.

“People need to understand that, really, he’s a human being,” McLeod’s attorney James Byrne told the Associated Press. “If there’s something wrong, we need to address it. He’s one of our fellow citizens who might need some help.”

McLeod’s mother and brother both died within the last 18 months and he lost his job, Byrne said.

A preliminary hearing has been postponed until next Tuesday (August 25).

After his arrest on August 4, McLeod told police he is secretly engaged to the star. He was first arrested in June after trying to get past a security perimeter on the movie set, and was issued a police order to stay away. He was held for just one day in custody due to over-crowding.

In March, McLeod told reporters he was Cyrus’s Number One fan at a book signing in New York. He lives in Georgia.
