Shockwaves NME Awards 2009 take place tonight (Feb 25)

The Shockwaves NME Awards 2009 is set to take place tonight (February 25) at the O2 Academy Brixton in London.

The ceremony, which is being hosted by Mark Watson, begins at around 6pm (GMT) when the guest start to arrive, while the serious business of handing out awards will kick off from around 8pm.

Along with the honours, there will also be performances from Elbow, Franz Ferdinand, Friendly Fires and some very special surprise appearances. The evening will be finished off with a set from The Cure, who will pick up the coveted Godlike Genius Award tonight.
