Rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight has been arrested for allegedly violating the terms of his parole.
The celebrity and owner of Tha Row Records (formerly Death Row Records) was arrested on Monday following the discovery by Los Angeles police of possible violations. These are alleged to involve association with reputed gang members police said.
His lawyer, David Chesnoff said: “He hasn’t done anything but try to obey the law and work hard since his release. I’m hopeful that when this is all thoroughly analysed that he’ll be permitted to be released.”
He added that Knight hadn’t done anything wrong and that if he did come into contact with any gang members it would only have been in connection with his responsibilities as a record company executive.
Sheriff’s investigators raided Knight’s Malibu home and the Beverly Hills office of Tha Row Records on November 14 in connection with a pair of unsolved homicides. Knight is not a suspect in the killings according to police.
Knight was released on parole in August 2001 after serving five years for violating probation on assault charges by getting into a fight in a Las Vegas hotel. The fight happened hours before hip hop star Tupac Shakur was killed in a drive-by shooting while riding in Knight’s car.
