SUGE KNIGHT’s THA ROW label, (formerly DEATH ROW RECORDS), has been slapped with a multi-million dollar lawsuit from a woman who claims to be one of the label’s founders.
Lydia Harris, wife of imprisoned drug-dealer Michael ‘Harry-O’ Harris, is claiming she and her husband were with Death Row at the start. The suit, filed against Knight, Harris’ former lawyer David Kenner, the producer Battlecat and several executives at Interscope Records. According to sohh.com, it is claimed in the action that the defendants conspired to prevent her from pursuing a career in the music business and that Knight slandered her calling her a “rat” on websites, on TV and radio interviews and by saying that she engaged in sexual activities in exchange for recording contracts.
A statement from Harris, says she is seeking “to recover benefits and royalties from producer/writer/artist Battlecat pursuant to exclusive contracts, which he systematically ignored in conjunction with major record label defendants [and] seeking the royalties and other contract benefits owed to her during the years since the formation of Death Row Records.”
Last year, Harris was co-producer of ‘Welcome To Death Row’, a warts and all look at Death Row.
