74 names have been released as potential shortlisters for the Oscars' Best Original Song

Seventy-four songs from film soundtracks have been released as potential nominees for next year’s Oscars.

The Hollywood Reporter published the list yesterday after the Academy announced them as “advanced” for the 88th Academy Awards, which will be broadcast on February 28, 2016.

The list features big American names, including Eminem for his track ‘Phenomenal’ from the film ‘Southpaw’, Lady Gaga‘s ‘Til it Happens to You’ from ‘The Hunting Ground’, ‘See You Again’ by Wiz Khalifa, from ‘Furious Seven’, and ‘Squeeze Me’ by N.E.R.D. from ‘The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water’.

There are a few Brits in line for a nomination too. Unsurprisingly Sam Smith‘s Bond theme, ‘Writing’s On The Wall’, from ‘Spectre’ is in there, as is ‘Johanna’ by Miles Kane from ‘Mortdecai’, and even Ash‘s Tim Wheeler is in there with ‘Feels Like Summer’ from the ‘Shaun the Sheep Movie’.

The Weeknd (“Earned It’), Sia (‘Salted Wounds’) and Ellie Goulding (‘Love Me Like You Do’) all made the list too for their contributions to the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ soundtrack.
