The hair of one of HUNGARY’s most popular pop singers has been stolen from the BUDAPEST hospital where he died last week.
Jimmy Zambo died after reportedly shooting himself in the head by accident last Tuesday (January 6). His long flowing hair had been shaved off in order to allow surgeons to operate on his brain. However, he died before they had a proper chance to save him.
Now, according to reports in Hungarian daily newspaper Blikk, the hair has disappeared. Such was Zambo’s popularity in Hungary that fans have said they would pay large amounts of money for the hair.
Zambo fatally wounded himself in the early hours of Tuesday morning. He had fired a shot from his 9mm Beretta through a window of his apartment and not realising bullets remained in the chamber, turned the gun on himself.
Zambo had been Hungary’s most popular entertainer for some time, regularly winning votes for best album and singer of the year. All his releases since 1986 have gone platinum. His 2000 album ‘Christmas With Jimmy’ had been the country’s best selling record for weeks.
Zambo, whose real first name is Imre, is survived by a wife and three sons.
