Skepta, Brian May, Enter Shikari and other music stars offer their take on Wednesday night's decision
A number of musicians and artists have reacted on social media after MPs voted in favour of launching airstrikes in Syria.
A motion was passed in the House Of Commons on Wednesday night, with MPs voting in favour of UK military action against Isis by 397 votes to 223.
In the aftermath of the vote, a whole host of music stars have taken to Twitter to express their opposition.
“No matter what we tweet, post or say, the system is gonna do what the fuck it wants,” grime MC Skepta tweeted, while Tom Chaplin of Keane wrote: “What a shame that the idea of a peaceful planet died with @johnlennon”.
Nadine Shah described it as “a sad, sad day” and Enter Shikari‘s Rou Reynolds wrote: “It’s mental that we can go into another war when the Chilcot Inquiry covering UK’s war crimes in Iraq hasn’t even been released”.
Queen‘s Brian May meanwhile wrote a lengthy statement on his official website, saying: “I believe going in to bomb indeterminate targets in Syria will be the biggest mistake Britain has ever made.”
