BBC Sound of 2016 longlist revealed: Jack Garratt, Rat Boy and more

The annual poll predicts the next big stars for the following year

The BBC Sound Of poll nominations for 2016 have been revealed.

The BBC Sound Of poll takes place annually, seeing 140 “influential music industry experts” picking their top tips for the next twelve months, predicting which relatively unknown acts will break out and achieve widespread success.

This year’s longlist sees the likes of Rat Boy, Blossoms, Jack Garratt, Alessia Cara, Loyle Carner and more nominated.

The top five acts will be revealed at the beginning of January, with the 2016 winner announced on January 8.

The BBC Sound Of poll launched in 2003, with 50 Cent winning the first year’s prize. Other previous winners include Adele, Ellie Goulding, Jessie J, Sam Smith and Haim.

Nominees over the years have included the likes of James Bay, George Ezra, Frank Ocean, Chvrches, Foals and more.
