Hip-Hop mogul brands Trump "a major embarrassment" following anti-Muslim speech
Russell Simmons has written an open letter to Donald Trump, urging the bilionaire presidential candidate to “stop the bullshit”.
Trump recently added to an already controversial Presidential campaign by claiming that all Muslims should be banned from entering the US “until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on”. His comments were made following a series of terrorist attacks in both the US and Europe.
Describing Trump as an “amazing friend”, Simmons explained that the controversial politician has supported him in the past by helping promote his books and also allowing him to stay in his Florida home. However, following the speech this week, he feels the need to urge Trump to stop.
“My friends, both Muslims and Jews, are saying there are so many comparisons between your rap and Hitler’s, and I cannot disagree with them, Donald,” Simmons wrote. “Republicans in power don’t like you any more than the Democrats in power, as they know you can’t be controlled, because you are your own man.”
Simmons added that he would be “campaigning rigorously against” Trump, calling him “a major embarrassment.” The former Def Jam Records co-founder appealed to Trump’s better side, saying: “You’re smarter and certainly more loving than you let on.”
