Previous nominees Anna Calvi and Nick Mulvey join this year's judging panel
The judging panel for the 2015 Mercury Prize has been revealed ahead of the nominees for this year’s prize being announced.
The 12 albums shortlisted for this year’s award will be announced next Friday (October 16) on Lauren Laverne’s BBC 6Music radio show. Early favourites for the award, which was won by Young Fathers in 2014, include Jamie xx, Florence + The Machine and Everything Everything.
Albums released by British and Irish artists in the UK between September 9, 2014 and September 25, 2015 are eligible for the prize. The shortlist is chosen by an independent judging panel which this year includes former nominees including Anna Calvi, Corinne Bailey Rae and Nick Mulvey among broadcasters, journalists and DJs.

The winner of the Mercury will be announced at a ceremony hosted by Lauren Laverne at London’s Radio Theatre at Broadcasting House on November 20.
Laverne said: “It looks like this year’s Mercury Prize is going to be one of the biggest and best yet. There have been so many fantastic albums released over the past year; it makes it really difficult to predict the 12 that the judges will choose for the 2015 shortlist.”
The BBC will screen the winning ceremony again after Channel 4 broadcast the final for the previous two years.
