Taylor Swift dominates MTV EMA nominations

The MTV Europe Music Awards takes place in Milan on October 25

Taylor Swift leads the lost of artists nominated at this year’s MTV EMAs.

MTV’s Europe Music Awards take place in Milan on October 25. Taylor Swift is in the running for the most awards, including Best Pop act, Best Female, Best Live, Best Song and Best Collaboration for ‘Bad Blood’ with Kendrick Lamar.

Justin Bieber also dominates the nominations list, with five potential wins including Best Male and Best Collaboration for his track with Skrillex, Diplo, ‘Where Are You Now?’

Elsewhere, Ed Sheeran is in with a chance for three awards including Best Male, Best Live and Best World Stage for his performance at V Festival in 2014. While Royal Blood, Shamir and Years & Years are among the 11 new artists listed for the Best Push award for rising stars.

Alongside news of the nominations, the MTV EMAs opened ‘social voting’ for the Biggest Fans award. Using Twitter, Instagram or Vine, fans can vote for the artist they would like to pick up the prize using the hashtag #EMABiggestFans followed by the name of the artist they would like to see win.

The artists nominated are 5SOS, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, One Direction and Taylor Swift. The One Direction hashtag is listed as #EMABiggestFans1D. The other hashtags all use the artists full names, for example #EMABiggestFansTaylorSwift.

The 2014 MTV EMA’s were dominated by One Direction, who picked up three awards for Best Pop, Best Live and Biggest Fans. The group’s non-attendance at the event – the 20th EMAs and the first to be held in Glasgow – meant that the spotlight fell for the most part on hostess Nicki Minaj, who herself won the award for Best Hip-Hop and also performed a medley of hits, including her ubiquitous single ‘Anaconda’.
