The BRIT Awards reveal 2016 plans

Ant & Dec return to host the ceremony which takes place in February at London's The O2

The BRIT Awards with Mastercard have announced their plans for the 2016 award ceremony.

Taking place on February 24, 2016, the 36th edition of the ceremony will see duo Ant & Dec return to host the event at The O2 in London.

Broadcast live on ITV, Ant & Dec commented on their involvement with the awards show.

They said: “We’re really excited to be invited back to host The BRIT Awards 2016. In all honesty we only intended to do it for one year but had such a good time we are thrilled to be doing it again. Both of us are looking forward to what will be an incredible night, and we can’t wait to celebrate the achievements of British music once again.”

The 2015 BRIT Awards saw performances from artists including Taylor Swift, Royal Blood and Madonna, who suffered a mishap when she tripped over part of her costume during her performance of ‘Living For Love’.

2015 winners included Paloma Faith, who picked up British Female Solo Artist, Ed Sheeran, who won British Male Solo Artist and Sam Smith, who won British Breakthrough Act.

Meanwhile, former boy band member Abz from 5ive recently put his BRIT Award up for sale on eBay to raise money for his new life as a famer. Last week, bidding had reached over £1 million.

Love has asked eBay bidders to “take advantage of my poverty”, revealing that he is selling the item to support his new lifestyle. The singer was most recently seen on BBC2’s Abz On The Farm, which followed him as he moved out of London and set up life on a smallholding in Wales.

In his blurb on the eBay item, Love writes that purchasing the award will ensure “no more awkward silences when people come over to your house” and adds that “this is a real conversation piece even if you didn’t win it! Guaranteed 100 per cent real”.
