Pop star held following crash in north London
Pop star and former X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.
The singer was arrested in Southgate, north London yesterday (September 10) after being breathalysed following a crash.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed the arrest and said: “Police were called shortly before midnight on Thursday (September 10) to Southgate Underground Station, following reports of two cars in collision.
“Officers and London Fire Brigade attended. There were no reported injuries.”
The spokesperson continued: “One of the drivers, a 27-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and taken to an east London police station.
“A breath test was administered. We do not discuss the results. She remains in custody.”
In January Contostavlos lost an appeal against her conviction for assaulting a man at V Festival 2013. She was found guilty of hitting celebrity blogger Savvas Morgan last year and immediately began the appeals process. However, a judge upheld the conviction.
A separate trial involving the singer facing drugs charges collapsed in court last year after Judge Alistair McCreath stated that he believed prosecution witness Mazher Mahmood had lied to the court at a pre-trial hearing.
