Bands and artists wishing to win place at 2015 event can apply from January 19
Details of the Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent Competition have been announced.
The winner of the annual talent contest wins a slot on one of the festival’s main stages, with unsigned acts invited to submit their music to a judging panel who will select a shortlist ahead of the event in June.
Winners will also receive £5,000 in cash while two runners-up will be given £2,500 each. Bands and artists wishing to enter the competition can apply online from 9am on Monday, January 19 until 5pm on January 26. To enter a Soundcloud link to one song is required plus video footage of a live performance.
A panel of music writers will then compile a longlist of 120 acts, which will be reduced to a final 8. All of these acts will then play live at a final event at Pilton Working Men’s Club in April. The winners of the 2014 contest were electronic duo M+A.
Little is known about the line-up for Glastonbury this year. Lionel Richie is the only big name artist to be confirmed for the festival so far. Foo Fighters are rumoured to be the favourites to headline the festival, alongside Muse and AC/DC.
