Former Spice Girls VICTORIA BECKHAM has parted company with her record label VIRGIN.
After months of speculation about her future on the label after a stuttering start to her solo career, Posh Spice has finally released a statement about the situation. The brief confirmation was at pains to claim Posh had not been dumped by Virgin, but had decided to walk away.
“No-one has been dropped. The Virgin deal has come to a natural end and both parties have decided not to continue,” it said.
Beckham’s debut solo album cost £5 million to produce, according to the BBC, but only managed to sell about 50,000 copies.
During her recent, failed, chart battle with Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue, Beckham wheeled in her husband David, the England football captain, in an attempt to drum up interest. Her single ‘Not Such An Innocent Girl’ limped into the charts at Six, while Kylie Minogue‘s ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ sold 300,000 in its first week and becamne a monster success.
Posh follows both Mel B and Emma Bunton in becoming a former Spice Girls without a record deal.
