THE WANNADIES vocalist and lead guitarist Par Wiksten had his guitar stolen from under his nose at the band’s Cambridge Junction show last Monday (28 February).
The band were playing their encore when a member of the audience reached over and picked up a guitar unchallenged from a fenced off area to the side of the stage, before walking out the front door of the venue and making his escape.
A spokesperson for the Wannadies told nme.com:”Par is absolutely gutted. It was his pride and joy, and to lose it like that is just gutting. The local authorities have been notified, as have all the local guitar shops, but Par just wants it back. Nobody can believe that the thief just managed to walk out the front door without being challenged by any of the security!”
Anyone with information about the theft should contact the band’s management office on 020 7681 9222.
The Wannadies, who release their new album ‘Yeah’ on March 6, continue their tour tonight (March 1) at Leeds Cockpit and then at Liverpool Lomax (2), Sheffield Leadmill (4), Newcastle Foundation (5), Glasgow King Tut’s (6), Aberdeen Lemon Tree (7), Manchester University MDH (9), Leicester Princess Charlotte (10), Wolverhampton Wulfrun Hall (11), Stoke Sugar Mill (13), Bristol Fleece & Firkin (14), Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms (14) and London LA2 (16).
