Warpaint announced for Parklife Weekender 2014

Manchester festival adds LA band to its line-up

Warpaint are the latest act to play Manchester’s Parklife Weekender festival this year.

The band, who released new album ‘Warpaint’ earlier this month, will perform at the festival in Manchester’s Heaton Park this summer. They join a line-up which already includes Sam Smith, Mercury Prize nominee Jon Hopkins, Radio 1’s Annie Mac and MK.

Speaking about their upcoming appearance at the festival, which takes place between June 7-8, Warpaint say: “Playing Parklife Manchester this year, very excited. see you all there!”

The LA band recently spoke to NME about their new self-titled album, with lead singer Emily Kokal likening the band’s working set-up in the studio to a “democracy of dictators”. “There’s a lot of give and take,” she said. “That’s a part of our process as a band, that’s inside the music. If we didn’t have that tension I don’t think the music would be that good.”

The Parklife Weekender 2013 was headlined by Plan B and Example with performances from The Maccabees, Disclosure, Jessie Ware, Danny Brown, The Horrors, Everything Everything, Toy, Liars , Savages , King Krule, Rudimental, TNGHT and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs.
