It's their first time playing the title track...
Arctic Monkeys played their second show of 2018 last night, and they used the occasion to debut the title track from their forthcoming sixth album.
The Sheffield icons gave ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’ its live debut during a show at San Diego’s Observatory North Park – with the performance captured by fans in attendance.
The track seems to be a slower offering from the band and it’s defined by slinking guitar lines and Alex Turner’s unmistakeable croon.
Check out the performance below.
The show marked the band’s second night at The Observatory, with the first also seeing the debut of ‘Tranquility Base’ tracks including ‘One Point Perspective’ and ‘Four out of Five’.
NME’s official verdict of ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’ described the record as their “most intriguing to date”.
“The album’s title is a fitting one: this record feels a lot like gazing into the night sky. At first it’s completely overwhelming – you’ll be trying to connect the scattered dots on this initially impenetrable listen, and maybe even despairing when it doesn’t all come together”, our verdict stated.
“But when the constellations show through, you’ll realise that it’s a product of searingly intelligent design.”
