Watch Arctic Monkeys sing a stripped back version of ‘Mardy Bum’ in Newcastle on final night of UK tour

The boys pulled out a classic for their final UK show

Arctic Monkey’s surprised fans by performing an a cappella version of ‘Mardy Bum’ in Newcastle last night (September 28).

On the final night of their UK tour before heading to the US, the band played a stripped-back version of the classic hit on a drum loop for the show’s encore.

Last week (September 22), the band performed a stripped-back performance of ‘A Certain Romance’ during the final show of their hometown stint in Sheffield.

‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’, the band’s sixth studio album, was released in May. In a four-star review, NME described the record as “a product of searingly intelligent design”.

The divisive LP was nominated for this year’s Mercury Prize, which was won by Wolf Alice. Arctic Monkeys bagged the award in 2006 for their debut.

The band will begin their tour of the US early next month.
